And he said, Behold now, I am old, I know not the day of my death:
And Israel said unto Joseph, Behold, I die: but God shall be with you, and bring you again unto the land of your fathers.
I have waited for thy salvation, O LORD.
And when Jacob had made an end of commanding his sons, he gathered up his feet into the bed, and yielded up the ghost, and was gathered unto his people.
And he said unto him, I will not go; but I will depart to mine own land, and to my kindred.
But who [am] I, and what [is] my people, that we should be able to offer so willingly after this sort? for all things [come] of thee, and of thine own have we given thee.
Hear my prayer, O LORD, and give ear unto my cry; hold not thy peace at my tears: for I [am] a stranger with thee, [and] a sojourner, as all my fathers [were].
‹For verily I say unto you, That many prophets and righteous› [men] ‹have desired to see› [those things] ‹which ye see, and have not seen› [them]; ‹and to hear› [those things] ‹which ye hear, and have not heard› [them].
These things said Esaias, when he saw his glory, and spake of him.
For we are saved by hope: but hope that is seen is not hope: for what a man seeth, why doth he yet hope for?
By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king: for he endured, as seeing him who is invisible.
¶ Of which salvation the prophets have enquired and searched diligently, who prophesied of the grace [that should come] unto you:
Dearly beloved, I beseech [you] as strangers and pilgrims, abstain from fleshly lusts, which war against the soul;
