And he cried unto the LORD, and said, O LORD my God, hast thou also brought evil upon the widow with whom I sojourn, by slaying her son?
¶ And it fell on a day, that Elisha passed to Shunem, where [was] a great woman; and she constrained him to eat bread. And [so] it was, [that] as oft as he passed by, he turned in thither to eat bread.
And when Elisha was come into the house, behold, the child was dead, [and] laid upon his bed.
¶ ‹Take heed that ye do not your alms before men, to be seen of them: otherwise ye have no reward of your Father which is in heaven.›
‹But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly.›
‹For the Son of man shall come in the glory of his Father with his angels; and then he shall reward every man according to his works.›
‹But when thou makest a feast, call the poor, the maimed, the lame, the blind:›
¶ I commend unto you Phebe our sister, which is a servant of the church which is at Cenchrea:
For if I do this thing willingly, I have a reward: but if against my will, a dispensation [of the gospel] is committed unto me.
The Lord give mercy unto the house of Onesiphorus; for he oft refreshed me, and was not ashamed of my chain:
Look to yourselves, that we lose not those things which we have wrought, but that we receive a full reward.
