And it came to pass, when they brought out those kings unto Joshua, that Joshua called for all the men of Israel, and said unto the captains of the men of war which went with him, Come near, put your feet upon the necks of these kings. And they came near, and put their feet upon the necks of them.

When the wicked, [even] mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.

¶ But I will hope continually, and will yet praise thee more and more.

For whatsoever things were written aforetime were written for our learning, that we through patience and comfort of the scriptures might have hope.

¶ [We are] troubled on every side, yet not distressed; [we are] perplexed, but not in despair;

¶ At my first answer no man stood with me, but all [men] forsook me: [I pray God] that it may not be laid to their charge.

¶ Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations:
