Nadab and Abihu Then Aaron’s sons, Nadab and Abihu, each took his fire pan and put fire in it, set incense on it, and presented strange fire before the LORD, which he had not commanded them to do.

Then a fire went out from the LORD and devoured the 250 men who offered incense.

But the LORD struck down some of the people of Beth Shemesh because they had looked into the ark of the LORD; he struck down 50,070 of the men. The people grieved because the LORD had struck the people with a hard blow.

The descendants of Levi carried the ark of God on their shoulders with poles, just as Moses had commanded in keeping with the LORD’s instruction.

That is why many of you are weak and sick, and quite a few are dead.
