Abram said to Lot,“Let there be no quarreling between me and you, and between my herdsmen and your herdsmen, for we are close relatives.

Then Abner called out to Joab,“Must the sword devour forever? Don’t you realize that this will turn bitter in the end? When will you tell the people to turn aside from pursuing their brothers?”

As the sun was setting, a cry went through the camp,“Each one should return to his city and to his homeland.”

But a prophet visited him and said:“O king, the Israelite troops must not go with you, for the LORD is not with Israel or any of the Ephraimites.

The LORD’s decisions stand forever; his plans abide throughout the ages.

The next day Moses saw two men fighting, and tried to make peace between them, saying,‘Men, you are brothers; why are you hurting one another?’

Final Exhortations Brotherly love must continue.
