Judah did evil in the sight of the LORD. They made him more jealous by their sins than their ancestors had done.
“Say this to King Rehoboam son of Solomon of Judah and to all the Israelites in Judah and Benjamin,
King Rehoboam solidified his rule in Jerusalem; he was forty-one years old when he became king and he ruled for seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city the LORD chose from all the tribes of Israel to be his home. Rehoboam’s mother was an Ammonite named Naamah.
They commanded an army of 307,500 skilled and able warriors who were ready to defend the king against his enemies.
Beware sinful nation, the people weighed down by evil deeds. They are offspring who do wrong, children who do wicked things. They have abandoned the LORD, and rejected the Holy One of Israel. They are alienated from him.
The Oppressors of the Helpless Will Be Oppressed The princes of Judah are like those who move boundary markers. I will pour out my rage on them like a torrential flood!
When they were fed, they became satisfied; when they were satisfied, they became proud; as a result, they forgot me!
