When Pharaoh got closer, the Israelites looked up, and there were the Egyptians marching after them, and they were terrified. The Israelites cried out to the LORD,

But I fear the reaction of their enemies, for their adversaries would misunderstand and say,“Our power is great, and the LORD has not done all this!”’

The LORD will judge his people, and will change his plans concerning his servants; when he sees that their power has disappeared, and that no one is left, whether confined or set free.

The LORD said to Gideon,“With the three hundred men who lapped I will deliver the whole army and I will hand Midian over to you. The rest of the men should go home.”

Jonathan said to his armor bearer,“Come on, let’s go over to the garrison of these uncircumcised men. Perhaps the LORD will intervene for us. Nothing can prevent the LORD from delivering, whether by many or by a few.”

But David replied to the Philistine,“You are coming against me with sword and spear and javelin. But I am coming against you in the name of the LORD of Heaven’s Armies, the God of Israel’s armies, whom you have defied!

They received divine help in fighting them, and the Hagrites and all their allies were handed over to them. They cried out to God during the battle; he responded to their prayers because they trusted in him.

The men of Judah turned around and realized they were being attacked from the front and the rear. So they cried out for help to the LORD. The priests blew their trumpets,

That day the Israelites were defeated; the men of Judah prevailed because they relied on the LORD God of their ancestors.

Our God, will you not judge them? For we are powerless against this huge army that attacks us! We don’t know what we should do; we look to you for help.”

God helped him in his campaigns against the Philistines, the Arabs living in Gur Baal, and the Meunites.

King Hezekiah and the prophet Isaiah son of Amoz prayed about this and cried out to heaven.

In my distress I called to the LORD; I cried out to my God. From his heavenly temple he heard my voice; he listened to my cry for help.

Some trust in chariots and others in horses, but we depend on the LORD our God.

To you they cried out, and they were saved; in you they trusted and they were not disappointed.

This oppressed man cried out and the LORD heard; he saved him from all his troubles.

Pray to me when you are in trouble! I will deliver you, and you will honor me!”

When he calls out to me, I will answer him. I will be with him when he is in trouble; I will rescue him and bring him honor.

The name of the LORD is like a strong tower; the righteous person runs to it and is set safely on high.

You keep completely safe the people who maintain their faith, for they trust in you.

He gives strength to those who are tired; to the ones who lack power, he gives renewed energy.

They will attack you but they will not be able to overcome you, for I will be with you to rescue you,” says the LORD.

For the LORD of Heaven’s Armies says to me that for his own glory he has sent me to the nations that plundered you– for anyone who touches you touches the pupil of his eye.
