The Curse of Military Siege“Because you have not served the LORD your God joyfully and wholeheartedly with the abundance of everything you have,

Asa’s Religious and Military Accomplishments(14:1) Asa did what the LORD his God desired and approved.

The high places were not eliminated from Israel, yet Asa was wholeheartedly devoted to the LORD throughout his lifetime.

However, the high places were not eliminated; the people were still not devoted to the God of their ancestors.

In the eighth year of his reign, while he was still young, he began to seek the God of his ancestor David. In his twelfth year he began ridding Judah and Jerusalem of the high places, Asherah poles, idols, and images.

For I have obeyed the LORD’s commands; I have not rebelled against my God.

Let them sing about the LORD’s deeds, for the LORD’s splendor is magnificent.

and said,“You who are full of all deceit and all wrongdoing, you son of the devil, you enemy of all righteousness– will you not stop making crooked the straight paths of the Lord?
