Therefore, cleanse your heart and stop being so stubborn!
Yet the LORD’s great anger against Judah did not subside; he was still infuriated by all the things Manasseh had done.
He told David,‘Since the day I brought my people out of the land of Egypt, I have not chosen a city from all the tribes of Israel to build a temple in which to live. Nor did I choose a man as leader of my people Israel.
Now I have chosen and consecrated this temple by making it my permanent home; I will be constantly present there.
They said to them,“Don’t bring those captives here! Are you planning on making us even more sinful and guilty before the LORD? Our guilt is already great and the LORD is very angry at Israel.”
He also rebelled against King Nebuchadnezzar, who had made him vow allegiance in the name of God. He was stubborn and obstinate, and refused to return to the LORD God of Israel.
(They gave their word to send away their wives; their guilt offering was a ram from the flock for their guilt.)
They see your processions, O God– the processions of my God, my king, who marches along in holy splendor.
Then I entered the precincts of God’s temple, and understood the destiny of the wicked.
Certainly the LORD has chosen Zion; he decided to make it his home.
If anyone wants to serve me, he must follow me, and where I am, my servant will be too. If anyone serves me, the Father will honor him.
But now, freed from sin and enslaved to God, you have your benefit leading to sanctification, and the end is eternal life.
Slaves, obey your earthly masters in every respect, not only when they are watching– like those who are strictly people-pleasers– but with a sincere heart, fearing the Lord.
