He told them:“You are the leaders of the Levites’ families. You and your relatives must consecrate yourselves and bring the ark of the LORD God of Israel up to the place I have prepared for it.
When the time comes for you to die, I will raise up your descendant, one of your own sons, to succeed you, and I will establish his kingdom.
David then said,“This is the place where the temple of the LORD God will be, along with the altar for burnt sacrifices for Israel.”
Then Rehoboam passed away and was buried in the City of David. His son Abijah replaced him as king.
Uzziah passed away and was buried near his ancestors in a cemetery belonging to the kings.(This was because he had a skin disease.) His son Jotham replaced him as king.
And after my skin has been destroyed, yet in my flesh I will see God,
so that he might continue to live forever and not experience death.
He took him away from following the mother sheep, and made him the shepherd of Jacob, his people, and of Israel, his chosen nation.
Jesus said,“Take away the stone.” Martha, the sister of the deceased, replied,“Lord, by this time the body will have a bad smell, because he has been buried four days.”
Then he fell to his knees and cried out with a loud voice,“Lord, do not hold this sin against them!” When he had said this, he died.
For I did not hold back from announcing to you the whole purpose of God.
Furthermore, those who have fallen asleep in Christ have also perished.
For this perishable body must put on the imperishable, and this mortal body must put on immortality.
