You shall not bow down to them or serve them, for I, the LORD, your God, am a jealous God, responding to the transgression of fathers by dealing with children to the third and fourth generations of those who reject me,
but who pays back those who hate him as they deserve and destroys them. He will not ignore those who hate him but will repay them as they deserve!
If a person does not repent, God will wield his sword. He has prepared to shoot his bow.
and execute the judgment to which their enemies have been sentenced. All his loyal followers will be vindicated. Praise the LORD!
At that time the LORD will punish with his destructive, great, and powerful sword Leviathan the fast-moving serpent, Leviathan the squirming serpent; he will kill the sea monster.
He repays them for what they have done, dispensing angry judgment to his adversaries and punishing his enemies. He repays the coastlands.
For the LORD judges all humanity with fire and his sword; the LORD will kill many.
“Call for archers to come against Babylon! Summon against her all who draw the bow! Set up camp all around the city! Do not allow anyone to escape! Pay her back for what she has done. Do to her what she has done to others. For she has proudly defied me, the Holy One of Israel.
Mark out the routes for the sword to take:“Rabbah of the Ammonites” and“Judah with Jerusalem in it.”
I will shock many peoples with you, and their kings will shiver with horror because of you. When I brandish my sword before them, every moment each one will tremble for his life, on the day of your fall.
As it is written in the prophet Isaiah,“Look, I am sending my messenger ahead of you, who will prepare your way,
because the outlook of the flesh is hostile to God, for it does not submit to the law of God, nor is it able to do so.
