The Uniqueness of Israel’s God Indeed, ask about the distant past, starting from the day God created humankind on the earth, and ask from one end of heaven to the other, whether there has ever been such a great thing as this, or even a rumor of it.

Gideon said to him,“Pardon me, but if the LORD is with us, why has such disaster overtaken us? Where are all his miraculous deeds our ancestors told us about? They said,‘Did the LORD not bring us up from Egypt?’ But now the LORD has abandoned us and handed us over to Midian.”

He says to himself,“I will never be shaken, because I experience no calamity.”

You, by your power, defeated nations and settled our fathers on their land; you crushed the people living there and enabled our ancestors to occupy it.

I said,“During the night I will remember the song I once sang; I will think very carefully.” I tried to make sense of what was happening.

I will remember the works of the LORD. Yes, I will remember the amazing things you did long ago!

I remember your ancient regulations, O LORD, and console myself.

His people remembered the ancient times. Where is the one who brought them up out of the sea, along with the shepherd of his flock? Where is the one who placed his holy Spirit among them,
