The Turning Point: The King Honors Mordecai Throughout that night the king was unable to sleep, so he asked for the book containing the historical records to be brought. As the records were being read in the king’s presence,
If I say,“My bed will comfort me, my couch will ease my complaint,”
I am exhausted as I groan; all night long I drench my bed in tears; my tears saturate the cushion beneath me.
In my time of trouble I sought the Lord. I kept my hand raised in prayer throughout the night. I refused to be comforted.
Make us happy in proportion to the days you have afflicted us, in proportion to the years we have experienced trouble!
For with great wisdom comes great frustration; whoever increases his knowledge merely increases his heartache.
Limitations of Human Wisdom When I tried to gain wisdom and to observe the activity on earth– even though it prevents anyone from sleeping day or night–
They strengthened the souls of the disciples and encouraged them to continue in the faith, saying,“We must enter the kingdom of God through many persecutions.”
