In this way God has snatched away your father’s livestock and given them to me.

Every woman will ask her neighbor and the one who happens to be staying in her house for items of silver and gold and for clothing. You will put these articles on your sons and daughters– thus you will plunder Egypt!”

Now the Israelites had done as Moses told them– they had requested from the Egyptians silver and gold items and clothing.

So I said to them,‘Whoever has gold, break it off.’ So they gave it to me, and I threw it into the fire, and this calf came out.”

If he piles up silver like dust and stores up clothing like mounds of clay,

He brought his people out enriched with silver and gold; none of his tribes stumbled.

I dressed you in embroidered clothing and put fine leather sandals on your feet. I wrapped you with fine linen and covered you with silk.

Am I not permitted to do what I want with what belongs to me? Or are you envious because I am generous?’
