Israel said,“Why did you bring this trouble on me by telling the man you had one more brother?”

Then they came to Marah, but they were not able to drink the waters of Marah, because they were bitter.(That is why its name was Marah.)

The Israelites said to them,“If only we had died by the hand of the LORD in the land of Egypt, when we sat by the pots of meat, when we ate bread to the full, for you have brought us out into this wilderness to kill this whole assembly with hunger!”

But the people were very thirsty there for water, and they murmured against Moses and said,“Why in the world did you bring us up from Egypt– to kill us and our children and our cattle with thirst?”

But if you are going to deal with me like this, then kill me immediately. If I have found favor in your sight then do not let me see my trouble.”

And all the Israelites murmured against Moses and Aaron, and the whole congregation said to them,“If only we had died in the land of Egypt, or if only we had perished in this wilderness!

Our ancestors in Egypt failed to appreciate your miraculous deeds, they failed to remember your many acts of loyal love, and they rebelled at the sea, by the Red Sea.
