Abraham said to his servant, the senior one in his household who was in charge of everything he had,“Put your hand under my thigh

Gideon said to him,“If you really are pleased with me, then give me a sign as proof that it is really you speaking with me.

If they say to us,‘Stay put until we approach you,’ we will stay right there and not go up to them.

Show me evidence of your favor! Then those who hate me will see it and be ashamed, for you, O LORD, will help me and comfort me.

I will punish those people who have violated their covenant with me. I will make them like the calf they cut in two and passed between its pieces. I will do so because they did not keep the terms of the covenant they made in my presence.

Zechariah said to the angel,“How can I be sure of this? For I am an old man, and my wife is old as well.”
