So now, leave me alone so that my anger can burn against them and I can destroy them, and I will make from you a great nation.”

Jabez called out to the God of Israel,“If only you would greatly bless me and expand my territory! May your hand be with me! Keep me from harm so I might not endure pain!” God answered his prayer.

The earth yields its crops. May God, our God, bless us!

Scarcely had I passed them by when I found my beloved! I held onto him tightly and would not let him go until I brought him to my mother’s house, to the bedroom chamber of the one who conceived me.

During his earthly life Christ offered both requests and supplications, with loud cries and tears, to the one who was able to save him from death and he was heard because of his devotion.
