The LORD asked him,‘How?’ He replied,‘I will go out and be a lying spirit in the mouths of all his prophets.’ The LORD said,‘Deceive and overpower him. Go out and do as you have proposed.’
With him are strength and prudence; both the one who goes astray and the one who misleads are his.
“I will provoke civil strife in Egypt, brothers will fight with each other, as will neighbors, cities, and kingdoms.
God’s People Are Spiritually Insensitive You will be shocked and amazed! You are totally blind! They are drunk, but not because of wine; they stagger, but not because of beer.
You were complacent in your evil deeds; you thought,‘No one sees me.’ Your self-professed wisdom and knowledge lead you astray, when you say,‘I am unique! No one can compare to me!’
Then the LORD said to me,“Tell them that the LORD of Heaven’s Armies, the God of Israel says,‘Drink this cup until you get drunk and vomit. Drink until you fall down and can’t get up. For I will send wars sweeping through you.’
For when anyone from the house of Israel, or the resident foreigner who lives in Israel, separates himself from me and erects his idols in his heart and sets the obstacle leading to his iniquity before his face, and then consults a prophet to seek something from me, I the LORD am determined to answer him personally.
Consequently God sends on them a deluding influence so that they will believe what is false.
