العودة إلى المقطع

So Aaron said to them,“Break off the gold earrings that are on the ears of your wives, your sons, and your daughters, and bring them to me.”

Their idols are made of silver and gold– they are man-made.

Those who make them will end up like them, as will everyone who trusts in them.

It is true, LORD, that the kings of Assyria have destroyed all the nations and their lands.

The craftsman encourages the metalsmith, the one who wields the hammer encourages the one who pounds on the anvil. He approves the quality of the welding, and nails it down so it won’t fall over.”

Those who empty out gold from a purse and weigh out silver on the scale hire a metalsmith, who makes it into a god. They then bow down and worship it.

Hammered-out silver is brought from Tarshish and gold is brought from Ufaz to cover those idols. They are the handiwork of carpenters and goldsmiths. They are clothed in blue and purple clothes. They are all made by skillful workers.

What good is an idol? Why would a craftsman make it? What good is a metal image that gives misleading oracles? Why would its creator place his trust in it and make such mute, worthless things?
