The scepter will not depart from Judah, nor the ruler’s staff from between his feet, until he comes to whom it belongs; the nations will obey him.

You prevail over all your enemies; your power is too great for those who hate you.

Before him the coastlands will bow down, and his enemies will lick the dust.

The LORD extends your dominion from Zion. Rule in the midst of your enemies!

Look, all who were angry at you will be ashamed and humiliated; your adversaries will be reduced to nothing and perish.

All the descendants of Israel will be vindicated by the LORD and will boast in him.

Look, you will summon nations you did not previously know; nations that did not previously know you will run to you, because of the LORD your God, the Holy One of Israel, for he bestows honor on you.

I will greatly rejoice in the LORD; I will be overjoyed because of my God. For he clothes me in garments of deliverance; he puts on me a robe symbolizing vindication. I look like a bridegroom when he wears a turban as a priest would; I look like a bride when she puts on her jewelry.

Under his rule Judah will enjoy safety and Israel will live in security. This is the name he will go by:‘The LORD has provided us with justice.’

“I(says the LORD) will strengthen the kingdom of Judah and deliver the people of Joseph and will bring them back because of my compassion for them. They will be as though I had never rejected them, for I am the LORD their God and therefore I will hear them.

Then the leaders of Judah will say to themselves,‘The inhabitants of Jerusalem are a means of strength to us through their God, the LORD of Heaven’s Armies.’

When he said this all his adversaries were humiliated, but the entire crowd was rejoicing at all the wonderful things he was doing.
