The LORD abhors the sacrifice of the wicked, but the prayer of the upright pleases him.

“Of what importance to me are your many sacrifices?” says the LORD.“I have had my fill of burnt sacrifices of rams and the fat from steers. The blood of bulls, lambs, and goats I do not want.

All of us had wandered off like sheep; each of us had strayed off on his own path, but the LORD caused the sin of all of us to attack him.

These people continually and blatantly offend me as they sacrifice in their sacred orchards and burn incense on brick altars.

“As for those who consecrate and ritually purify themselves so they can follow their leader and worship in the sacred orchards, those who eat the flesh of pigs and other disgusting creatures, like mice– they will all be destroyed together,” says the LORD.

Then Haggai responded,“‘The people of this nation are unclean in my sight,’ decrees the LORD.‘And so is all their effort; everything they offer is also unclean.
