When the donkey saw the angel of the LORD, she crouched down under Balaam. Then Balaam was angry, and he beat his donkey with a staff.

So all the people departed to eat and drink and to share their food with others and to enjoy tremendous joy, for they had gained insight in the matters that had been made known to them.

For one-fourth of the day they stood in their place and read from the book of the law of the LORD their God, and for another fourth they were confessing their sins and worshiping the LORD their God.

When words abound, transgression is inevitable, but the one who restrains his words is wise.

A person who has a quick temper will do foolish things, and a person with crafty schemes will be hated.

The tongue of the wise treats knowledge correctly, but the mouth of the fool spouts out folly.

Better to be slow to anger than to be a mighty warrior, and one who controls his temper is better than one who captures a city.

The truly wise person restrains his words, and the one who stays calm is discerning.

Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love its use will eat its fruit.

A person with great anger bears the penalty, but if you deliver him from it once, you will have to do it again.

Like a city that is broken down and without a wall, so is a person who cannot control his temper.

The end of a matter is better than its beginning; likewise, patience is better than pride.
