“If they do not believe you or pay attention to the former sign, then they may believe the latter sign.

Meanwhile the altar split open and the ashes poured from the altar in fulfillment of the sign the prophet had given with the LORD’s message.

“Ask for a confirming sign from the LORD your God. You can even ask for something miraculous.”

The Demand for a Sign Now when the Pharisees and Sadducees came to test Jesus, they asked him to show them a sign from heaven.

Let the Christ, the king of Israel, come down from the cross now, that we may see and believe!” Those who were crucified with him also spoke abusively to him.

So then the Jewish leaders responded,“What sign can you show us, since you are doing these things?”

But I told you that you have seen me and still do not believe.

The Outcome of Jesus’ Public Ministry Foretold Although Jesus had performed so many miraculous signs before them, they still refused to believe in him,

while you extend your hand to heal, and to bring about miraculous signs and wonders through the name of your holy servant Jesus.”

while God confirmed their witness with signs and wonders and various miracles and gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will.
