TSK · Jonah 1:2

So the LORD said,“The outcry against Sodom and Gomorrah is so great and their sin so blatant

So King Sennacherib of Assyria broke camp and went on his way. He went home and stayed in Nineveh.

I prayed,“O my God, I am ashamed and embarrassed to lift my face to you, my God! For our iniquities have climbed higher than our heads, and our guilt extends to the heavens.

The LORD said to me,“Do not say,‘I am too young.’ But go to whomever I send you and say whatever I tell you.

For you are not being sent to a people of unintelligible speech and difficult language, but to the house of Israel–

So Jonah went immediately to Nineveh, in keeping with the LORD’s message.(Now Nineveh was an enormous city– it required three days to walk through it!)

But I am full of the courage that the LORD’s Spirit gives, and have a strong commitment to justice. This enables me to confront Jacob with its rebellion, and Israel with its sin.

Proclamation of the Destruction of Nineveh(2:2)“An enemy who will scatter you, Nineveh, has advanced against you!”“Guard the rampart! Watch the road! Prepare yourselves for battle! Muster your mighty strength!”

The LORD will attack the north and destroy Assyria. He will make Nineveh a heap of ruins; it will be as barren as the desert.

Look, the pay you have held back from the workers who mowed your fields cries out against you, and the cries of the reapers have reached the ears of the Lord of Heaven’s Armies.
