A fugitive came and told Abram the Hebrew. Now Abram was living by the oaks of Mamre the Amorite, the brother of Eshcol and Aner.(All these were allied by treaty with Abram.)

she called for her household servants and said to them,“See, my husband brought in a Hebrew man to us to humiliate us. He tried to go to bed with me, but I screamed loudly.

So one of the priests whom they had deported from Samaria went back and settled in Bethel. He taught them how to worship the LORD.

“This is what King Cyrus of Persia says:“‘The LORD God of heaven has given me all the kingdoms of the earth. He has appointed me to build a temple for him in Jerusalem, which is in Judah.

“Artaxerxes, king of kings, to Ezra the priest, a scribe of the law of the God of heaven:

The king responded,“What is it you are seeking?” Then I quickly prayed to the God of heaven

Then Satan answered the LORD,“Is it for nothing that Job fears God?

Give thanks to the God of heaven, for his loyal love endures!

He asked them to pray for mercy from the God of heaven concerning this mystery so that he and his friends would not be destroyed along with the rest of the wise men of Babylon.

Afterward, the Israelites will turn and seek the LORD their God and their Davidic king. Then they will submit to the LORD in fear and receive his blessings in the future.

For as I went around and observed closely your objects of worship, I even found an altar with this inscription:‘To an unknown god.’ Therefore what you worship without knowing it, this I proclaim to you.

I was circumcised on the eighth day, from the people of Israel and the tribe of Benjamin, a Hebrew of Hebrews. I lived according to the law as a Pharisee.

Who will not fear you, O Lord, and glorify your name, because you alone are holy? All nations will come and worship before you for your righteous acts have been revealed.”
