Do not eat it raw or boiled in water, but roast it over the fire with its head, its legs, and its entrails.

They have made me jealous with false gods, enraging me with their worthless gods; so I will make them jealous with a people they do not recognize, with a nation slow to learn I will enrage them.

know then that God has wronged me and encircled me with his net.

My strength drains away like water; all my bones are dislocated; my heart is like wax; it melts away inside me.

May those who seek my life be embarrassed and humiliated! May those who plan to harm me be turned back and ashamed!

May those who are trying to take my life be embarrassed and ashamed! May those who want to harm me be turned back and ashamed!

May all who hate Zion be humiliated and turned back!

I said,“Oh, the feeling in the pit of my stomach! I writhe in anguish. Oh, the pain in my heart! My heart pounds within me. I cannot keep silent. For I hear the sound of the trumpet; the sound of the battle cry pierces my soul!

ת(Tav) Let all their wickedness come before you; afflict them just as you have afflicted me because of all my acts of rebellion. For my groans are many, and my heart is sick with sorrow.

ד(Dalet) He prepared his bow like an enemy; his right hand was ready to shoot. Like a foe he killed everyone, even our strong young men; he has poured out his anger like fire on the tent of Daughter Zion.

ע(Ayin)The People of Jerusalem Lament: Our eyes continually failed us as we looked in vain for help. From our watchtowers we watched for a nation that could not rescue us.

Because of this, our hearts are sick; because of these things, we can hardly see through our tears.

I will throw my net over him and he will be caught in my snare; I will bring him to Babylon and judge him there because of the unfaithfulness he committed against me.

I will throw my bird net over them while they are flying, I will bring them down like birds in the sky; I will discipline them when I hear them flocking together.

Habakkuk Declares His Confidence I listened and my stomach churned; the sound made my lips quiver. My frame went limp, as if my bones were decaying, and I shook as I tried to walk. I long for the day of distress to come upon the people who attack us.
