My days have passed, my plans are shattered, even the desires of my heart.

The waves of death engulfed me, the currents of chaos overwhelmed me.

For the music director; according to the tune of“Lilies;” by David. Deliver me, O God, for the water has reached my neck.

The water would have overpowered us; the current would have overwhelmed us.

He was led away after an unjust trial– but who even cared? Indeed, he was cut off from the land of the living; because of the rebellion of his own people he was wounded.

Then he said to me,“Son of man, these bones are all the house of Israel. Look, they are saying,‘Our bones are dry, our hope has perished; we are cut off.’

I thought I had been banished from your sight, that I would never again see your holy temple!
