She arose, bowed her face toward the ground, and said,“Your female servant, like a lowly servant, will wash the feet of the servants of my lord.”

But John tried to prevent him, saying,“I need to be baptized by you, and yet you come to me?”

That is why I did not presume to come to you. Instead, say the word, and my servant must be healed.

He poured water into the washbasin and began to wash the disciples’ feet and to dry them with the towel he had wrapped around himself.

Thomas replied to him,“My Lord and my God!”

More than that, I now regard all things as liabilities compared to the far greater value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord, for whom I have suffered the loss of all things– indeed, I regard them as dung!– that I may gain Christ,
