“Honor your father and your mother, that you may live a long time in the land the LORD your God is giving to you.

Then you must recall the LORD’s instructions and the prophetic testimony of what would happen. Certainly they say such things because their minds are spiritually darkened.

Jesus said to him,“Why do you call me good? No one is good except God alone.

For no one is declared righteous before him by the works of the law, for through the law comes the knowledge of sin.

For the commandments,“Do not commit adultery, do not murder, do not steal, do not covet,”(and if there is any other commandment) are summed up in this,“Love your neighbor as yourself.”

“Honor your father and mother,” which is the first commandment accompanied by a promise, namely,

But if you fulfill the royal law as expressed in this scripture,“You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” you are doing well.
