I will sing a song that imparts wisdom; I will make insightful observations about the past.

Certainly the Sovereign LORD does nothing without first revealing his plan to his servants the prophets.

This took place to fulfill what was spoken by the prophet:

But it will be more bearable for Tyre and Sidon in the judgment than for you!

known from long ago.

Instead we speak the wisdom of God, hidden in a mystery, that God determined before the ages for our glory.

and to enlighten everyone about God’s secret plan– the mystery that has been hidden for ages in God who has created all things.

He is the one who saved us and called us with a holy calling, not based on our works but on his own purpose and grace, granted to us in Christ Jesus before time began,

¶ Introduction: God Has Spoken Fully and Finally in His Son After God spoke long ago in various portions and in various ways to our ancestors through the prophets,

He was foreknown before the foundation of the world but was manifested in these last times for your sake.

The beast you saw was, and is not, but is about to come up from the abyss and then go to destruction. The inhabitants of the earth– all those whose names have not been written in the book of life since the foundation of the world– will be astounded when they see that the beast was, and is not, but is to come.
