We will be like all the other nations. Our king will judge us and lead us and fight our battles.”

In the past, when Saul was our king, you were the real leader in Israel. The LORD said to you,‘You will shepherd my people Israel; you will rule over Israel.’”

Micaiah said,“I saw all Israel scattered on the mountains like sheep that have no shepherd. Then the LORD said,‘They have no master. They should go home in peace.’”

Micaiah replied,“I saw all Israel scattered on the mountains like sheep that have no shepherd. Then the LORD said,‘They have no master. They should go home in peace.’”

For the household gods have spoken wickedness, the soothsayers have seen a lie, and as for the dreamers, they have disclosed emptiness and give comfort in vain. Therefore the people set out like sheep and become scattered because they have no shepherd.

When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them because they were bewildered and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd.

So he answered,“I was sent only to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.”

The doorkeeper opens the door for him, and the sheep hear his voice. He calls his own sheep by name and leads them out.

For you were going astray like sheep but now you have turned back to the shepherd and guardian of your souls.
