ASVs · chapter 17
T he burdenH4853 of Damascus.H1834 Behold, DamascusH1834 is taken awayH5493 from being a city,H5892 and it shall be a ruinousH4654 heap.H4596
The citiesH5892 of AroerH6177 are forsaken;H5800 they shall be for flocks,H5739 which shall lie down,H7257 and none shall make them afraid.H2729
And the fortressH4013 shall ceaseH7673 from Ephraim,H669 and the kingdomH4467 from Damascus,H1834 and the remnantH7605 of Syria;H758 they shall be as the gloryH3519 of the childrenH1121 of Israel,H3478 saithH5002 JehovahH3068 of hosts.H6635
And it shall come to pass in that day,H3117 that the gloryH3519 of JacobH3290 shall be made thin,H1809 and the fatnessH4924 of his fleshH1320 shall wax lean.H7329
And it shall be as when the harvestmanH7105 gatherethH622 the standing grain,H7054 and his armH2220 reapethH7114 the ears;H7641 yea, it shall be as when one gleanethH3950 earsH7641 in the valleyH6010 of Rephaim.H7497
Yet there shall be leftH7604 therein gleanings,H5955 as the shakingH5363 of an olive-tree,H2132 twoH8147 or threeH7969 berriesH1620 in the topH7218 of the uppermost bough,H534 fourH702 or fiveH2568 in the outmost branchesH5585 of a fruitfulH6509 tree, saithH5002 Jehovah,H3068 the GodH430 of Israel.H3478
In that dayH3117 shall menH120 lookH8159 unto their Maker,H6213 and their eyesH5869 shall have respectH7200 to the HolyH6918 One of Israel.H3478
And they shall not lookH8159 to the altars,H4196 the workH4639 of their hands;H3027 neither shall they have respectH7200 to that which their fingersH676 have made,H6213 either the Asherim,H842 or the sun-images.H2553
In that dayH3117 shall their strongH4581 citiesH5892 be as the forsakenH5800 placesH2793 in the woodH534 and on the mountain top, whichH6440 were forsakenH5800 from before the childrenH1121 of Israel;H3478 and it shall be a desolation.H8077
For thou hast forgottenH7911 the GodH430 of thy salvation,H3468 and hast not been mindfulH2142 of the rockH6697 of thy strength;H4581 therefore thou plantestH5193 pleasantH5282 plants,H5193 and settestH2232 it with strangeH2114 slips.H2156
In the dayH3117 of thy plantingH5194 thou hedgestH7735 it in, and in the morningH1242 thou makest thy seedH2233 to blossom;H6524 but the harvestH7105 fleeth awayH5067 in the dayH3117 of griefH2470 and of desperateH605 sorrow.H3511
Ah,H1945 the uproarH1995 of manyH1995 peoples,H5971 that roarH1993 like the roaringH1993 of the seas;H3220 and the rushingH7588 of nations,H3816 that rush like the rushingH7582 of mightyH3524 waters!H4325
The nationsH3816 shall rushH7582 like the rushingH7588 of manyH7227 waters:H4325 but he shall rebukeH1605 them, and they shall fleeH5127 far off,H4801 and shall be chasedH7291 as the chaffH4671 of the mountainsH2022 beforeH6440 the wind,H7307 and like the whirling dustH1534 beforeH6440 the storm.H5492
At eventide,H6256 behold, terror;H1091 [and] before the morningH1242 they are not. This is the portionH2506 of them that despoilH8154 us, and the lotH1486 of them that robH962 us.
