And they returned^H7725 to Joshua,^H3091 and said^H559 unto him, Let not all the people^H5971 go up;^H5927 but let about two or three^H7969 thousand^H505 men^H376 go up^H5927 and smite^H5221 Ai;^H5857 make not all the people^H5971 to toil^H3021 thither; for they are but few.^H4592

A scoffer^H3887 seeketh^H1245 wisdom,^H2451 and [findeth it] not; But knowledge^H1847 is easy^H7043 unto him that hath understanding.^H995

The labor^H5999 of fools^H3684 wearieth^H3021 every one of them; for he knoweth^H3045 not how to go^H3212 to the city.^H5892

Yet they seek^H1875 me daily,^H3117 and delight^H2654 to know^H1847 my ways:^H1870 as a nation^H1471 that did^H6213 righteousness,^H6666 and forsook^H5800 not the ordinance^H4941 of their God,^H430 they ask^H7592 of me righteous^H4941 judgments;^H6664 they delight^H2654 to draw near^H7132 unto God.^H430

Enter ye^G1525 in by^G1223 the narrow gate:^G4439 for^G3754 wide^G4116 is the gate,^G4439 and^G2532 broad^G2149 is the way,^G3598 that leadeth^G520 to^G1519 destruction,^G684 and^G2532 many^G4183 are^G1526 they that enter^G1525 in^G1223 thereby.^G846

For^G1063 John^G2491 said^G3004 unto Herod,^G3754 It is^G1832 not^G3756 lawful^G1832 for thee^G4671 to have^G2192 thy^G4675 brother's^G80 wife.^G1135

Ye shall seek^G2212 me,^G3165 and^G2532 shall^G2147 not^G3756 find^G2147 me: and^G2532 where^G3699 I^G1473 am,^G1510 ye^G5210 cannot^{G3756 G1410} come.^G2064

For^G1063 being ignorant of^G50 God's^G2316 righteousness,^G1343 and^G2532 seeking^G2212 to establish^G2476 their own,^{G2398 G1343} they did^G5293 not^G3756 subject themselves^G5293 to the righteousness^G1343 of God.^G2316

So^G5620 then, my^G3450 beloved,^G27 even as^G2531 ye have^G5219 always^G3842 obeyed,^G5219 not^G3361 as^G5613 in^G1722 my^G3450 presence^G3952 only,^G3440 but^G235 now^G3568 much^G4183 more^G3123 in^G1722 my^G3450 absence,^G666 work out^G2716 your own^G1438 salvation^G4991 with^G3326 fear^G5401 and^G2532 trembling;^G5156

Let us therefore^G3767 give diligence^G4704 to enter^G1525 into^G1519 that^G1565 rest,^G2443 that^G3361 no man^G5100 fall^G4098 after^G1722 the same^G846 example^G5262 of disobedience.^G543
