ASVs · chapter 24
B e not thou enviousH7065 against evilH7451 men;H582 Neither desireH183 to be with them:
For their heartH3820 studiethH1897 oppression,H7701 And their lipsH8193 talkH1696 of mischief.H5999
Through wisdomH2451 is a houseH1004 builded;H1129 And by understandingH8394 it is established;H3559
And by knowledgeH1847 are the chambersH2315 filledH4390 With all preciousH3368 and pleasantH5273 riches.H1952
A wiseH2450 manH1397 is strong;H5797 Yea, a manH376 of knowledgeH1847 increasethH553 might.H3581
For by wise guidanceH8458 thou shalt makeH6213 thy war;H4421 And in the multitudeH7230 of counsellorsH3289 there is safety.H8668
WisdomH2454 is too highH7311 for a fool:H191 He openethH6605 not his mouthH6310 in the gate.H8179
He that devisethH2803 to do evil,H7489 Men shall callH7121 him a mischief -H4209 maker.H1167
The thoughtH2154 of foolishnessH200 is sin;H2403 And the scofferH3887 is an abominationH8441 to men.H120
If thou faintH7503 in the dayH3117 of adversity,H6869 Thy strengthH3581 is small.H6862
DeliverH5337 them that are carriedH3947 away unto death,H4194 And those that are readyH4131 to be slainH4194 see that thou hold back.H2820
If thou sayest,H559 Behold, we knewH3045 not this; Doth not he that weighethH8505 the heartsH3826 considerH995 it? And he that keepethH5341 thy soul,H5315 doth not he knowH3045 it? And shall not he renderH7725 to every manH120 according to his work?H6467
My son,H1121 eatH398 thou honey,H1706 for it is good;H2896 And the droppings of the honeycomb,H5317 which are sweetH4966 to thy taste:H2441
So shalt thou knowH3045 wisdomH2451 to be unto thy soul;H5315 If thou hast foundH4672 it, then shall there beH3426 a reward,H319 And thy hopeH8615 shall not be cut off.H3772
Lay not wait,H693 O wickedH7563 man, against the habitationH5116 of the righteous;H6662 DestroyH7703 not his resting-place:H7258
For a righteousH6662 man fallethH5307 seven times,H7651 and riseth up again;H6965 But the wickedH7563 are overthrownH3782 by calamity.H7451
RejoiceH8055 not when thine enemyH341 falleth,H5307 And let not thy heartH3820 be gladH1523 when he is overthrown;H3782
Lest JehovahH3068 seeH7200 it, and it displeaseH7489 him, And he turn awayH7725 his wrathH639 from him.
FretH2734 not thyself because of evil-doers;H7489 Neither be thou enviousH7065 at the wicked:H7563
For there shall be no rewardH319 to the evilH7451 man; The lampH5216 of the wickedH7563 shall be put out.H1846
My son,H1121 fearH3372 thou JehovahH3068 and the king;H4428 [And] companyH6148 not with them that are given to change:H8138
For their calamityH343 shall riseH6965 suddenly;H6597 And the destructionH6365 from them both,H8147 who knowethH3045 it?
These also are [sayings] of the wise.H2450 To have respectH5234 of personsH6440 in judgmentH4941 is not good.H2896
He that saithH559 unto the wicked,H7563 Thou art righteous;H6662 PeoplesH5971 shall curseH5344 him, nationsH5971 shall abhorH2194 him:
But to them that rebukeH3198 [him] shall be delight,H5276 And a goodH2896 blessingH1293 shall comeH935 upon them.
He kissethH5401 the lipsH8193 Who givethH7725 a rightH5228 answer.H1697
PrepareH3559 thy workH4399 without,H2351 And make it readyH6257 for thee in the field;H7704 And afterwardsH310 buildH1129 thy house.H1004
Be not a witnessH5707 against thy neighborH7453 without cause;H2600 And deceiveH6601 not with thy lips.H8193
SayH559 not, I will doH6213 so to him as he hath doneH6213 to me; I will renderH7725 to the manH376 according to his work.H6467
I wentH5674 by the fieldH7704 of the sluggard,H376 And by the vineyardH3754 of the manH120 voidH2638 of understanding;H3820
And, lo, it was all grown overH5927 with thorns,H7063 The faceH6440 thereof was coveredH3680 with nettles,H2738 And the stoneH68 wallH1444 thereof was broken down.H2040
Then I beheld,H2372 and considered well;H7896 I saw,H2372 and receivedH3947 instruction:H4148
[ Yet] a littleH4592 sleep,H8142 a littleH4592 slumber,H8572 A littleH4592 foldingH2264 of the handsH3027 to sleep;H7901
So shall thy povertyH7389 comeH935 as a robber,H1980 And thy wantH4270 as an armedH4043 man.H376
