Doth not this fasting rather please me, That thou lose the wicked bands, that thou take of the ouer heauie burthens, that thou let the oppressed go free, and breake all maner of yoke?
Bryng foorth therefore fruites meete for repentaunce.
And the people asked hym, saying: What shall we do then?
Nowe when they hearde this, they were pricked in their heartes, and sayde vnto Peter, & vnto the other Apostles: Ye men & brethren, what shall we do?
And saying: Sirs, why do ye these thynges? We are mortall men lyke vnto you, and preach vnto you, that ye shoulde turne from these vanities, vnto the lyuyng God, which made heauen and earth, and the sea, and all thynges that are therin.
Which when he had receaued such commaundement, thrust them into the inner pryson, and made their feete fast in the stockes.
For he shall haue iudgement without mercie, that sheweth no mercie: And mercie reioyceth agaynst iudgement.
