¶ I will declare the decree: the LORD hath said unto me, Thou [art] my Son; this day have I begotten thee.

Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel.

For he shall grow up before him as a tender plant, and as a root out of a dry ground: he hath no form nor comeliness; and when we shall see him, [there is] no beauty that we should desire him.

And Jacob begat Joseph the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus, who is called Christ.

God hath fulfilled the same unto us their children, in that he hath raised up Jesus again; as it is also written in the second psalm, Thou art my Son, this day have I begotten thee.

For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh:

Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God:

In whom are hid all the treasures of wisdom and knowledge.

And the grace of our Lord was exceeding abundant with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus.

Who being the brightness of [his] glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified [are] all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren,

So also Christ glorified not himself to be made an high priest; but he that said unto him, Thou art my Son, to day have I begotten thee.

¶ To whom coming, [as unto] a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, [and] precious,

¶ That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;

In this was manifested the love of God toward us, because that God sent his only begotten Son into the world, that we might live through him.

¶ For many deceivers are entered into the world, who confess not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh. This is a deceiver and an antichrist.
