And the LORD appeared unto him the same night, and said, I [am] the God of Abraham thy father: fear not, for I [am] with thee, and will bless thee, and multiply thy seed for my servant Abraham's sake.
He suffered no man to do them wrong: yea, he reproved kings for their sakes;
¶ Thus saith the LORD, As the new wine is found in the cluster, and [one] saith, Destroy it not; for a blessing [is] in it: so will I do for my servants' sakes, that I may not destroy them all.
When Jesus heard [that], he said, ‹This sickness is not unto death, but for the glory of God, that the Son of God might be glorified thereby.›
Jesus answered and said, ‹This voice came not because of me, but for your sakes.›
‹And for their sakes I sanctify myself, that they also might be sanctified through the truth.›
Therefore I endure all things for the elect's sakes, that they may also obtain the salvation which is in Christ Jesus with eternal glory.
