I have spread out my hands all the day unto a rebellious people, which walketh in a way [that was] not good, after their own thoughts;
‹O Jerusalem, Jerusalem,› [thou] ‹that killest the prophets, and stonest them which are sent unto thee, how often would I have gathered thy children together, even as a hen gathereth her chickens under› [her] ‹wings, and ye would not!›
He came unto his own, and his own received him not.
Jesus answered and said unto him, ‹Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.›
‹And no man hath ascended up to heaven, but he that came down from heaven,› [even] ‹the Son of man which is in heaven.›
¶ ‹If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true.›
Jesus answered them, and said, ‹My doctrine is not mine, but his that sent me.›
Then said Jesus unto them, ‹When ye have lifted up the Son of man, then shall ye know that I am› [he], ‹and› [that] ‹I do nothing of myself; but as my Father hath taught me, I speak these things.›
¶ But though he had done so many miracles before them, yet they believed not on him:
‹He that loveth me not keepeth not my sayings: and the word which ye hear is not mine, but the Father's which sent me.›
¶ And when they had appointed him a day, there came many to him into [his] lodging; to whom he expounded and testified the kingdom of God, persuading them concerning Jesus, both out of the law of Moses, and [out of] the prophets, from morning till evening.
¶ That which was from the beginning, which we have heard, which we have seen with our eyes, which we have looked upon, and our hands have handled, of the Word of life;
And from Jesus Christ, [who is] the faithful witness, [and] the first begotten of the dead, and the prince of the kings of the earth. Unto him that loved us, and washed us from our sins in his own blood,
