¶ A [good] name [is] rather to be chosen than great riches, [and] loving favour rather than silver and gold.

¶ A good name [is] better than precious ointment; and the day of death than the day of one's birth.

I, [even] I, [am] he that comforteth you: who [art] thou, that thou shouldest be afraid of a man [that] shall die, and of the son of man [which] shall be made [as] grass;

Thou therefore gird up thy loins, and arise, and speak unto them all that I command thee: be not dismayed at their faces, lest I confound thee before them.

For I heard the defaming of many, fear on every side. Report, [say they], and we will report it. All my familiars watched for my halting, [saying], Peradventure he will be enticed, and we shall prevail against him, and we shall take our revenge on him.

¶ Likewise, thou son of man, set thy face against the daughters of thy people, which prophesy out of their own heart; and prophesy thou against them,

‹And fear not them which kill the body, but are not able to kill the soul: but rather fear him which is able to destroy both soul and body in hell.›

Now the chief priests, and elders, and all the council, sought false witness against Jesus, to put him to death;

But what I do, that I will do, that I may cut off occasion from them which desire occasion; that wherein they glory, they may be found even as we.

For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.

Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth [it] not, to him it is sin.
