¶ If the spirit of the ruler rise up against thee, leave not thy place; for yielding pacifieth great offences.
Hearken not unto them; serve the king of Babylon, and live: wherefore should this city be laid waste?

¶ Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye stedfast, unmoveable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord.
For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.
That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God;
¶ If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.
¶ Wherefore I put thee in remembrance that thou stir up the gift of God, which is in thee by the putting on of my hands.
Who gave himself for us, that he might redeem us from all iniquity, and purify unto himself a peculiar people, zealous of good works.
And let ours also learn to maintain good works for necessary uses, that they be not unfruitful.
¶ Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme;
¶ This second epistle, beloved, I now write unto you; in [both] which I stir up your pure minds by way of remembrance:
