Back to passage

He was very thirsty, so he cried out to the LORD and said,“You have given your servant this great victory. But now must I die of thirst and fall into hands of these uncircumcised Philistines?”

Samson’s Death and Burial The rulers of the Philistines gathered to offer a great sacrifice to Dagon their god and to celebrate. They said,“Our god has handed Samson, our enemy, over to us.”

David asked the men who were standing near him,“What will be done for the man who strikes down this Philistine and frees Israel from this humiliation? For who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he defies the armies of the living God?”

Saul said to his armor bearer,“Draw your sword and stab me with it! Otherwise these uncircumcised people will come, stab me, and torture me.” But his armor bearer refused to do it, because he was very afraid. So Saul took his sword and fell on it.

David replied to him,“How is it that you were not afraid to reach out your hand to destroy the LORD’s anointed?”

When Ahithophel realized that his advice had not been followed, he saddled his donkey and returned to his house in his hometown. After setting his household in order, he hanged himself. So he died and was buried in the grave of his father.

When his armor bearer saw that Saul was dead, he also fell on his sword and died.
