And the LORD God said,“Who told you that you were naked? Did you eat from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?”

Adoni-Bezek said,“Seventy kings, with thumbs and big toes cut off, used to lick up food scraps under my table. God has repaid me for what I did to them.” They brought him to Jerusalem, where he died.

This is what the LORD has said:‘I am about to bring disaster on you from inside your own household! Right before your eyes I will take your wives and hand them over to your companion. He will go to bed with your wives in broad daylight!

Now Elisha was sitting in his house with the community leaders. The king sent a messenger on ahead, but before he arrived, Elisha said to the leaders,“Do you realize this assassin intends to cut off my head? Look, when the messenger arrives, shut the door and lean against it. His master will certainly be right behind him.”

When they received the letter, they seized the king’s sons and executed all seventy of them. They put their heads in baskets and sent them to him in Jezreel.

So they hanged Haman on the very gallows that he had prepared for Mordecai. The king’s rage then abated.

He becomes the victim of his own destructive plans and the violence he intended for others falls on his own head.

The LORD revealed himself; he accomplished justice; the wicked were ensnared by their own actions.(Higgaion. Selah)

The prophet Jeremiah told all these things to King Zedekiah of Judah in Jerusalem.

The one who builds his house by unjust gain is as good as dead. He does this so he can build his nest way up high and escape the clutches of disaster.

For by the standard you judge you will be judged, and the measure you use will be the measure you receive.
