So Balaam got up in the morning, and said to the princes of Balak,“Go to your land, for the LORD has refused to permit me to go with you.”

He asked Amnon,“Why are you, the king’s son, so depressed every morning? Can’t you tell me?” So Amnon said to him,“I’m in love with Tamar the sister of my brother Absalom.”

But Naboth replied to Ahab,“The LORD forbid that I should sell you my ancestral inheritance.”

For wrath kills the foolish person, and anger slays the silly one.

The end of a matter is better than its beginning; likewise, patience is better than pride.

Jonah Responds to God’s Kindness This displeased Jonah terribly and he became very angry.

When the sun began to shine, God sent a hot east wind. So the sun beat down on Jonah’s head, and he grew faint. So he despaired of life, and said,“I would rather die than live!”

The one who builds his house by unjust gain is as good as dead. He does this so he can build his nest way up high and escape the clutches of disaster.

But each one is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desires.
