When the LORD saw that they humbled themselves, the LORD’s message came to Shemaiah:“They have humbled themselves, so I will not destroy them. I will deliver them soon. My anger will not be unleashed against Jerusalem through Shishak.

But then Hezekiah and the residents of Jerusalem humbled themselves and abandoned their pride, and the LORD was not angry with them for the rest of Hezekiah’s reign.

When he prayed to the LORD, the LORD responded to him and answered favorably his cry for mercy. The LORD brought him back to Jerusalem to his kingdom. Then Manasseh realized that the LORD is the true God.

LORD, you have heard the request of the oppressed; you make them feel secure because you listen to their prayer.

The sacrifices God desires are a humble spirit– O God, a humble and repentant heart you will not reject.

Before they even call out, I will respond; while they are still speaking, I will hear.

Listen to the LORD’s message, you who respect his word! Your countrymen, who hate you and exclude you, supposedly for the sake of my name, say,“May the LORD be glorified, then we will witness your joy.” But they will be put to shame.

The LORD said to him,“Go through the city of Jerusalem and put a mark on the foreheads of the people who moan and groan over all the abominations practiced in it.”

But he gives greater grace. Therefore it says,“God opposes the proud, but he gives grace to the humble.”
