Back to passage

The LORD said to Moses,“When you go back to Egypt, see that you do before Pharaoh all the wonders I have put under your control. But I will harden his heart and he will not let the people go.

But I will harden Pharaoh’s heart, and although I will multiply my signs and my wonders in the land of Egypt,

Yet Pharaoh’s heart became hard, and he did not listen to them, just as the LORD had predicted.

But for this purpose I have caused you to stand: to show you my strength, and so that my name may be declared in all the earth.

and the Israelites went away and did exactly as the LORD had commanded Moses and Aaron.

And as for me, I am going to harden the hearts of the Egyptians so that they will come after them, that I may be honored because of Pharaoh and his army and his chariots and his horsemen.

The nations will hear and tremble; anguish will seize the inhabitants of Philistia.

for the LORD determined to make them obstinate so they would attack Israel. He wanted Israel to annihilate them without mercy, as he had instructed Moses.

You performed awesome signs against Pharaoh, against his servants, and against all the people of his land, for you knew that the Egyptians had acted presumptuously against them. You made for yourself a name that is celebrated to this day.

I acted for the sake of my reputation, so that I would not be profaned before the nations among whom they lived, before whom I revealed myself by bringing them out of the land of Egypt.

You will advance against my people Israel like a cloud covering the earth. In the latter days I will bring you against my land so that the nations may acknowledge me, when before their eyes I magnify myself through you, O Gog.

All the people of the land will bury them, and it will be a memorial for them on the day I magnify myself, declares the Sovereign LORD.

For the scripture says to Pharaoh:“For this very purpose I have raised you up, that I may demonstrate my power in you, and that my name may be proclaimed in all the earth.”

as it is written,“God gave them a spirit of stupor, eyes that would not see and ears that would not hear, to this very day.”
