So Joseph moved them from Israel’s knees and bowed down with his face to the ground.

“Whoever strikes his father or his mother must surely be put to death.

Each of you must respect his mother and his father, and you must keep my Sabbaths. I am the LORD your God.

I invoke heaven and earth as witnesses against you today that you will surely and swiftly be removed from the very land you are about to cross the Jordan to possess. You will not last long there because you will surely be annihilated.

Honor your father and your mother just as the LORD your God has commanded you to do, so that your days may be extended and that it may go well with you in the land that he is about to give you.

You must have an accurate and correct stone weight and an accurate and correct measuring container, so that your life may be extended in the land the LORD your God is about to give you.

Children, obey your parents in everything, for this is pleasing in the Lord.
