But Lot said to them,“No, please, Lord!

“It is not our custom here,” Laban replied,“to give the younger daughter in marriage before the firstborn.

Reuben, you are my firstborn, my might and the beginning of my strength, outstanding in dignity, outstanding in power.

‘No,’ they replied.‘There won’t be enough for you and for us. Go instead to those who sell oil and buy some for yourselves.’

But I said,‘Certainly not, Lord, for nothing defiled or ritually unclean has ever entered my mouth!’
