TSK · Isaiah 48:1

God said to him,“Your name is Jacob, but your name will no longer be called Jacob; Israel will be your name.” So God named him Israel.

You must not swear falsely in my name, so that you do not profane the name of your God. I am the LORD.

When the LORD heard you speaking to me, he said to me,“I have heard what these people have said to you– they have spoken well.

Revere the LORD your God, serve him, be loyal to him and take oaths only in his name.

Gehazi, the prophet Elisha’s servant, thought,“Look, my master did not accept what this Syrian Naaman offered him. As certainly as the LORD lives, I will run after him and accept something from him.”

God says this to the evildoer:“How can you declare my commands, and talk about my covenant?

Say to God:“How awesome are your deeds! Because of your great power your enemies cower in fear before you.

There is little Benjamin, their ruler, and the princes of Judah in their robes, along with the princes of Zebulun and the princes of Naphtali.

Listen to the LORD’s message, you leaders of Sodom! Pay attention to our God’s rebuke, people of Gomorrah!

One will say,‘I belong to the LORD,’ and another will use the name‘Jacob.’ One will write on his hand,‘The LORD’s,’ and use the name‘Israel.’”

Listen to me, you stubborn people, you who distance yourself from doing what is right.

Look at Abraham, your father, and Sarah, who gave you birth. When I summoned him, he was a lone individual, but I blessed him and gave him numerous descendants.

The LORD swears an oath by his right hand, by his strong arm:“I will never again give your grain to your enemies as food, and foreigners will not drink your wine, which you worked hard to produce.

You must be truthful, honest and upright when you take an oath saying,‘As surely as the LORD lives!’ If you do, the nations will pray to be as blessed by him as you are and will make him the object of their boasting.”

You steal. You murder. You commit adultery. You lie when you swear on oath. You sacrifice to the god Baal. You pay allegiance to other gods whom you have not previously known.

I will remove those who worship the stars in the sky from their rooftops, those who swear allegiance to the LORD while taking oaths in the name of their‘king,’

‘This people honors me with their lips, but their heart is far from me,

Jesus saw Nathanael coming toward him and exclaimed,“Look, a true Israelite in whom there is no deceit!”

The Condemnation of the Jew But if you call yourself a Jew and rely on the law and boast of your relationship to God

It is not as though the word of God had failed. For not all those who are descended from Israel are truly Israel,

influenced by the hypocrisy of liars whose consciences are seared.

‘I know the distress you are suffering and your poverty(but you are rich). I also know the slander against you by those who call themselves Jews and really are not, but are a synagogue of Satan.
