Job 24:23 TSK

God may let them rest in a feeling of security, but he is constantly watching all their ways.

You will say,“They have struck me, but I am not harmed! They beat me, but I did not know it! When will I awake? I will look for another drink.”

It is not for kings, O Lemuel, it is not for kings to drink wine, or for rulers to crave strong drink,

They have stringed instruments, tambourines, flutes, and wine at their parties. So they do not recognize what the LORD is doing, they do not perceive what he is bringing about.

But look, there is outright celebration! You say,“Kill the ox and slaughter the sheep, eat meat and drink wine. Eat and drink, for tomorrow we die!”

Jeremiah Petitions the Lord to Punish Those Who Attack Him Then some people said,“Come on! Let us consider how to deal with Jeremiah! There will still be priests to instruct us, wise men to give us advice, and prophets to declare God’s word. Come on! Let’s bring charges against him and get rid of him! Then we will not need to pay attention to anything he says.”
