Stay in this land. Then I will be with you and will bless you, for I will give all these lands to you and to your descendants, and I will fulfill the solemn promise I made to your father Abraham.

Now, if you pay close attention to my commandments that I am giving you today and love the LORD your God and serve him with all your mind and being,

He was loyal to the LORD and did not abandon him. He obeyed the commandments which the LORD had given to Moses.

You demand that your precepts be carefully kept.

“Indeed, a time is coming,” says the LORD,“when I will make a new covenant with the people of Israel and Judah.

I will sprinkle you with pure water and you will be clean from all your impurities. I will purify you from all your idols.

But he replied,“Blessed rather are those who hear the word of God and obey it!”

“I will not abandon you as orphans, I will come to you.

“Just as the Father has loved me, I have also loved you; remain in my love.

He will glorify me, because he will receive from me what is mine and will tell it to you.

I in them and you in me– that they may be completely one, so that the world will know that you sent me, and you have loved them just as you have loved me.

and saw the Lord saying to me,‘Hurry and get out of Jerusalem quickly, because they will not accept your testimony about me.’

For God, who said“Let light shine out of darkness,” is the one who shined in our hearts to give us the light of the glorious knowledge of God in the face of Christ.

I asked the Lord three times about this, that it would depart from me.

But the Lord stood by me and strengthened me, so that through me the message would be fully proclaimed for all the Gentiles to hear. And so I was delivered from the lion’s mouth!

And the scripture was fulfilled that says,“Now Abraham believed God and it was counted to him for righteousness,” and he was called God’s friend.

But whoever obeys his word, truly in this person the love of God has been perfected. By this we know that we are in him.

Little children, let us not love with word or with tongue but in deed and truth.

(Now this is love: that we walk according to his commandments.) This is the commandment, just as you have heard from the beginning; thus you should walk in it.

Listen! I am standing at the door and knocking! If anyone hears my voice and opens the door I will come into his home and share a meal with him, and he with me.
